You know those men that claim women only like guys who treat them like crap? Those men are usually grown out of a friendship that never made it to the dating stage. Imagine Winnie Cooper never hooking up with Kevin Arnold in the Wonder Years. Those years of pent up sexual frustration lead to the type of guy that would make the game Virtual Attraction Part 1.
Found in the Indie Games section of the Xbox LIVE Arcade, Virtual Attraction Part 1 portrays itself to be a guide for how to attract women. A general summary of the game would be to say that women only like asshole guys. Therefore, you should treat them like crap. There are pages and pages to read of “scientific evidence” to support the theory that women only like jerks. There were quizzes and a virtual simulation where you talk to a poorly animated woman and test out your newly acquired women hunting skills.
When I first loaded it up, I thought the game was going to be a joke. I was hoping it would be some hilarious take on relationships today. But that is not what I found; it’s serious. Despite its usage of research and attempt at sincerity, the developers of the game can’t possibly think what they are saying is a good idea due to the presence of a warning at the beginning of the game that includes in very tiny print:
“By pressing start, you are explicitly declaring yourself solely responsible for the use of the information contained herein, and render us (the creators) harmless against any damages whether physical, emotional, or financial.”
So the game isn’t really a game at all. It’s considered by its creators to be a legitimate training tool to bag the players a woman they previously never had a chance at. It wasn’t fun. It wasn’t informative. And I doubt the tactics described within have ever worked for anyone. Ever.

Oh man... The thing that gets me is the guy sitting alone, in his basement, thinking he's helping out all these poor schmucks by having made this game. Indie Games - you never cease to entertain.
After reading all reviews on this, I thought I HAD to give it a download. First, I find it a little wierd that people would want to learn this sort of thing on their XBOX. However, after downloading and giving it a thorough look, I have to admit there IS some really good information here. Also, I think the reviewer has missed the point. Its not saying you must treat women like crap, it's saying don't act like a little wuss around women. Big difference! I'd be the first to mock something like this, but in this case, this is the same sort of thing david deangelo or mystery method would teach, which in my experience works great.
I don't think it teaches not to be a wuss at all. There is a message to be more confident which is good in almost any situation in life. But the quiz and the "simulation" don't encourage confidence, they directly encourage guys to be insulting. When she asks if he likes her dress, the correct answer was something along the lines of telling her that given the same dress, her friends would look hotter. Almost all of the answers were making sure that the female knows how thoroughly unimpressed the guy is with anything she could ever say or do. Being confident and direct works great. Being insulting and a total chode who doesn't care is far less effective. But if people really turn to the Xbox for dating tips, they are probably doomed to begin with. I just thought it was going to be fun or super hilarious. It wasn't.
I must say, I was also skeptical and just downloaded it to see what all the buzz was about. I’m glad I did! I have to agree with Rob. I don’t think the reviewer has read all the information. It doesn’t suggest anywhere that you should act like a “jerk”. Quite the opposite in fact.I tried some of the lines (I’m embarrassed to say), and got great responses!
Hilarious or heartbreaking that the girls think this game is crap, and the guys think it's great? Hmm..
Hehe! It's both heartbreaking and hilarious. It's hilarious that so many of us need to rely on XBOX games to teach us how to interact with women. Whats hilarious about it though is that it actually works. My friends and I tried it the other night and actually had loads of fun for a change... and so did the girls we were with. Nobody found it insulting or demeaning. Let the good times roll! ;)
Oh gentlemen, we definitely play the games in full before we review them. If for some reason we don't, it is stated that a part was skipped. I read through every last word of the information in that game (and Damn there was a lot). The information part isn't upsetting at all. But the quizzes and the automated practicum where the player chooses from answers definitely have a notable amount of correct answers that are pretty jerkstyle. And I too find it amazing the total and absolute divide on this game in regards to gender. I have talked to multiple women (who have also read/played thoroughly) about this game and they found it to be laughable and inaccurate but the guys seem to find it to be a truly valuable resource. It would interesting to find the reverse of those cross sections: a guy who thinks its hella dumb and a girl who thinks its gospel.
this isn't really my thing (im happily married), but we downloaded this for a laugh. according to this, there does seem to be be a cross-section of women who agree with this sort of thing...

The thing is, women grow up watching soap operas, playing tea party, reading romance novels and magazines that teach you how to "get the perfect man". Your social skills are far more in tune when it comes to interacting with the opposite sex.
All we got to rely on is boyish locker room advice and (creepy) advice from our fathers (which usually comes 10 years too late).
The point is, we NEED this guidance, and after trying out some of the tips they give in Virtual Attraction, i'm convinced they really work!!!
